below that are most essential in providing each person with the
best membership experience!
UNIQUE LOCAL EVENTS
Silver Connections is not the social club of many years ago where activities just consisted of playing bingo or visiting the local cafeteria. We are an active group of young, age 55+ adults who are very fortunate to live in the Triangle and have the wonderful restaurants, events and activities to enjoy in Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest, Apex, Durham and Chapel Hill . Silver Connections takes advantage of all the area has to offer. Dining, theater, museum trips, sporting events, wine tastings, concerts, seminars, pot luck dinners, exercise outings, happy hours, picnics, festivals…..to just name a few that are offered! There are approximately 8-10 events offered every month for members to choose from! Everyone has different schedules, financial situations and preferences for events....we have a variety and something for everyone!
Three times a year, we have a “New Member Social” which will be a get together for all new members who have joined. A great introduction to your membership and a way to meet others who are also new!
TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES
US and international travel is also offered as an option to our members. Partnerships have been formed with several travel agencies, so that trips are offfered at reasonable prices with convenience and fun in mind! Silver Comnections offers you the chance to get to know other members at our events and then feeling comfortable with the group you will be traveling with! NOURISHING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY
Birthdays, illnesses, surgeries, births of grandchildren, and other life events and celebrations concerning members will be noted and shared (with permission) with other members. Years ago, neighbors brought meals, sent cards and because there were smaller communities and everyone knew each other, people were sometimes more “in tune” to each other’s struggles and celebrations. Silver Connections will promote this sense of community within the membership as a way to combat isolation and help those who are members feel a sense of connection to each other.
PERSONALIZED SERVICE
Each potential member has the opportunity to meet the owner, ask any questions and gather information. Our committment is to know each member on an individual basis and not as just “someone” who belongs. You can also get in touch with the owner to ask her any question as nothing is insignificant or too foolish to approach her about. You are important to Silver Connections and as a member you will receive the personal attention you deserve.
The owner is present and working at most events. She has orchestrated the event ahead of time, taken care of event details and will make all introductions between members. Her goal is to make sure that all runs smoothly and strives to maintain a relaxed, no pressure, enjoyable atmosphere. We are sensitive to a new member attending their first event and will be there to help you feel at home. Our members are also very welcoming and always open to new friends!
