MEET THE OWNER

Laura Kay House was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has lived in Atlanta, Georgia; Marblehead, Massachusetts; the Baltimore/Annapolis area of Maryland; and, for the past 21 years, has proudly called North Carolina's Triangle region home.

Laura Kay earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology, followed by a Master's degree in Gerontology. Her professional expertise includes the biology and psychology of aging, grief and loss, the positive impact of social connection on physical and emotional well-being, and helping adults successfully reinvent their lives after age 55. Laura Kay's diverse career has also included bereavement support, serving as a lifestyle facilitator in real estate, and 17 years as a flight attendant with Delta Air Lines.

After years of research and planning, she recognized that active single adults age 55 and over had few opportunities to build new friendships following the loss of a spouse, divorce, or a lifetime of being single. She envisioned a welcoming organization that would provide meaningful social opportunities without the pressures of dating.

In 2007, she turned that vision into reality by founding Silver Connections, a full-time business dedicated to enriching the lives of active single adults age 55+. Through a wide variety of unique local events and group travel experiences, Silver Connections helps members make new friends, stay socially engaged, and enjoy new experiences in a safe, welcoming environment. Personal service, community, and quality programming remain the foundation of the organization.

Laura Kay is also the founder of Your Travel Memories, a company dedicated exclusively to curated group travel experiences also for adults age 55 and over. Drawing upon decades of travel industry experience and a lifelong passion for exploring the world, she provides unforgettable travel opportunities that combine exceptional destinations with companionship and peace of mind.

An active community volunteer, Laura Kay supports organizations including The Caring House, Wreaths Across America, and several dog rescue organizations.

Her work has been recognized with numerous honors, including the SearStone Ageless Hero Award – Business of the Year (2016), the Potter's Hand Senior Advocacy Award (2011), and the Women's Etc.! Community Entrepreneur Award (2009).
